Living With Death

Living With Death: An Exhibition Exploring Death, Dying and Bereavement

On Saturday 19th October 2024 I was involved in an event at Leeds City Museum, as part of the tri annual Leeds Festival of Gothica event.

Living With Death is an informative, thought provoking and colourful exhibition, from their website:

Living with Death: an exhibition exploring death, dying and bereavement

Our latest exhibition at Leeds City Museum invites visitors to explore the different ways people experience death, dying, and grief. Living with Death looks at how humans have developed knowledge and skills in response to life ending.
We know that death affects everyone, but it is often difficult to talk about. The exhibition hopes to gently encourage conversation through personal stories, and objects from across the world and throughout history.
A series of talks, workshops, and family-friendly events will complement the exhibition throughout the year.

During the day I gave talks, answered questions and spoke to many who attended the exhibit on a range of subjects about funerals, funeral practices and people’s choices for their own celebration of life ceremony.

Talking about death is still a taboo subject for many, but we need to talk to our loved ones, families, friends and people so when the time comes, they are able to grieve knowing they carried out our final wishes where possible.

Living With Death is on until 5th January 2025 at Leeds City Museum.
